From game controllers to strawberries, from Chinese dictionaries to climbing shoes — a wide range of symbolic objects were shared during the third FOSSR Café, the biweekly space dedicated to the FOSSR community.
This community is made up of researchers, technologists, and PhD students who contribute daily through their work and studies to advancing the FOSSR project.
Many participants joined the session to share their academic journeys, expectations, and personal contributions to FOSSR.
Each symbolic object shown on camera provided a starting point for describing their identity, research aspirations, and challenges.
The FOSSR community embodies a rich variety of expertise, spanning from computer science to data ethics, from project management to cultural anthropology.
Once again, this diversity emerged in a vibrant dialogue among participants representing different Work Packages, highlighting the many dimensions of FOSSR.
When asked “What do you expect from FOSSR?”, the most common responses were “continuity” and “collaboration.”
Many also expressed their desire, at this stage of their careers, to work on something that makes a tangible, meaningful contribution to society.
The next FOSSR Café is scheduled for 18 June at 9:30 AM, when other temporary staff members and Work Package leaders will share their perspectives over a cup of coffee.
