Conference on “Frontiers of Causal Inference and Machine Learning” co-organsed by FOSSR and IMT Lucca

The conference on “Frontiers of Causal Inference and Machine Learning” (CIML) 2025 was held from 8 to 11 July at the IMT School for Advanced Studies in Lucca, co-organised by FOSSR (through CNR-IRCrES) and IMT Lucca.

The event, which focused on topics such as public economics, labour, finance, artificial intelligence and econometrics, combined training sessions with presentations and discussions of research papers, encouraging participation and exchange between early-career researchers and senior professionals.

Two specific focuses were dedicated to presenting the characteristics and opportunities for research and policy-making communities developed and offered by the European research infrastructures RISIS (Research Infrastructure for Science and Innovation policy Studies)  and FOSSR (Fostering Open Science in Social Science Research), held respectively by Antonio Zinilli and Lorenzo Giammei, and Giovanni Cerulli, all from CNR-IRCrES.

The conference also featured two keynote speeches, one at the opening and one at the closing, by Nathan Kallus (Cornell University) and Jeffrey Wooldridge (Michigan State University).
