Online Training Course

FOSSR Online Training: “Data Lifecycle and Architectures in the Social Sciences”

The first online FOSSR training session, titled “Data Lifecycle and Architectures in the Social Sciences”, will take place on 4–5 October.
Organized by CNR-Irpps, the course is part of FOSSR’s training offer on open science and social research methodologies for acquiring reliable, high-quality data.

With the growing availability of data from diverse — and not always reliable — sources, assessing data quality has become increasingly urgent. Ensuring the integrity of the entire data production process and critically evaluating methodological choices are key steps in this direction.

Led by Loredana Cerbara and Nicolò Marchesini, the training provides a foundation based on CNR-Irpps’s long-standing experience in high-quality data production, focusing on methodological choices for building databases that fill information gaps and support relevant research questions.

FOSSR, launched in autumn 2022 for a 30-month duration, aims to provide the Italian social science community with reliable, unified, and comprehensive access to research data and resources, in line with open science principles.
Funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), FOSSR is implemented by nine CNR institutes and offices, in collaboration with leading Italian universities and public bodies.

The training combines lectures and practical workshops allowing participants to test approaches on real datasets within a dedicated virtual environment.
Participation is free and open upon registration (by 30 September 2023): l.cnr.it/fossr-training-ott-23
