Video of the event “First Evidence from the FOSSR Infrastructure for an Integrated System of Surveys on the Italian Population”, held in hybrid format on 27 April 2026. The event highlighted the crucial role played by research infrastructures for population data collection, at the intersection of techno-scientific innovation and tangible impact on public policies. During the morning, IOPP (Italian Online Probability Panel) was presented: a longitudinal online probability panel representative of the Italian population. Speakers include Ferruccio Biolcati Rinaldi, Cristiano Vezzoni, Guglielmo Weber, Agar Brugiavini, Giulio Ecchia, Marialivia Bernardi, Letizia Mencarini, Yuri Pettinicchi and Loredana Cerbara, who presented the first results and perspectives emerging from four major survey infrastructures - IOPP, SHARE, GUIDE and GGS - contributing to a more integrated understanding of the Italian population across the life course. FOSSR Panels - Italian Online Probability Panel (IOPP)
Video of the event “FOSSR Online Research Panel (ORP): a bridge between research, participation and policy”, held in hybrid format on 20 April 2026. It introduces the ORP, an opt-in online panel of 10,000 adults developed within the FOSSR project to support open and high-quality social science research in Italy. The session features contributions on the ORP infrastructure, the CIVES Observatory, methodological aspects of non-probability panels, community-building strategies, and their potential contribution to public policy. Speakers include Antonio Zinilli (CNR-IRCrES), Andrea Orazio Spinello (CNR-IRCrES), Salvatore Vassallo (UniBO-Fondazione di ricerca Istituto Carlo Cattaneo), Rita Giuffredi (CNR-IRCrES), Emanuela Reale (CNR-IRCrES), Davide Arcidiacono (UNICT), Assunta Viteritti (UNISAPIENZA) who discussed the ORP infrastructure, the CIVES Observatory, methodological aspects of non-probability panels, community-building strategies, and their potential contribution to public policy. FOSSR Panels - Online Research Panel (ORP): a bridge between research, participation and policy
The recording of the webinar, organised on 10th April 2026 within the activities of Task 2.5 “FOSSR Ethical Issues” led by the Interdepartmental Center for Research Ethics and Integrity (CID Ethics–CNR). An overview of the main ethical aspects inherent in social science research, particularly within the context of Research Infrastructures.

The Demo Session, presented by Mario Sicuranza and Rocco Paolillo, illustrated the network of Data Centers, the Cloud Computing Platform, and the Marketplace of FOSSR. Rocco Paolillo also demonstrated how to upload a resource (Synthetic Population Generator service) to the Marketplace. The Q&A discussed infrastructure flexibility, KPIs, traceability, feedback, user support, and future FOSSR' developments.

The session offered a rich discussion on how FOSSR is innovating the production of high-quality individual data to better support evidence-based public policies, highlighting the role of research infrastructures, methodological innovation, and policy relevance. FOSSR Final General Conference 2026 - first part
Mario Ciampi, leader del Work Package 6 del progetto FOSSR, fa il punto sulla costruzione dell'Open Cloud. Fin dall'inizio, spiega, il lavoro si è concentrato sulla progettazione di un'architettura basata su cloud, che è stata definita su quattro livelli distinti: Livello 1: Rete di Data Center Costituisce il livello più basso, fornendo l'infrastruttura fisica. Livello 2: Piattaforma Cloud Permette un accesso trasparente e semplificato degli utenti alle risorse dei data center sottostanti. Livello 3: Gestione Utente e Dati Si occupa della gestione degli utenti e, in particolare, dei dati che confluiranno e saranno gestiti all'interno della piattaforma. Livello 4: Accesso Applicativo Fornisce l'accesso alle applicazioni, ai dati e agli strumenti offerti dall'infrastruttura, ed è in grado di ospitare tutti i servizi applicativi. Un lavoro significativo, dice Ciampi, è stato dedicato alla definizione e progettazione di tutti i dettagli tecnici e attualmente il progetto è pronto per la fase di sviluppo e installazione del software che costituirà il cloud.
L'Open Cloud di FOSSR
Un ampio set di corsi, sessioni partecipative e programmi a livello universitario, per formare i ricercatori del futuro: Andrea Orazio Spinello, WP leader del Work Package 8 (Capacity building and training) offre una panoramica dell’offerta formativa del progetto FOSSR: un’offerta rivolta al mondo della ricerca, ai policy makers e a tutti i potenziali stakeholder che possono essere interessati ai dati, ai servizi, ai metodi e agli strumenti sviluppati dal progetto. A complementare quest'offerta di corsi e sessioni - che sono free of charge, quindi gratuite per tutti i partecipanti - c’è poi un'offerta di alta formazione, in collaborazione con alcune università italiane: un master biennale di secondo livello presso l'Università di Milano Bicocca, che si è appena concluso, e 10 borse dottorali, presso 7 università italiane. Infine, il Work Package offre anche la produzione di un servizio, un software, basato su Stata e Python, che permetterà di svolgere analisi di dati.
