Friday, 25 November, 9:30 a.m. – Via dei Taurini 19, Ground Floor Hall
The kick-off meeting of FOSSR – Fostering Open Science in Social Science Research will take place on Friday, 25 November, at 9:30 a.m. at Via dei Taurini 19, Ground Floor Hall.
The project, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU with more than 32 million euros, aims to create an Italian Open Science Cloud for the Social Sciences, modeled on the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
European Infrastructures
Three social science research infrastructures coordinated by the CNR are involved in the project: CESSDA, SHARE, and RISIS.
The goal is to build an integrated platform of tools and services with a single, smart, and user-friendly access point available to the social science research community to conduct analyses and studies on the social and economic transformations of contemporary societies.
Thanks to its open data access, FOSSR will enable exploration in many research fields: wealth distribution, education, migration, social behaviors, economic models, public policies, and more.
Partners
The National Research Council (CNR) participates in FOSSR through several institutes of excellence — CNR-Icar, CNR-Ircres, CNR-Irpps, CNR-Ismed, CNR-Istc, CNR-Isti, CNR-Irsa, CNR-Istp — and its departments, including DSU (Department of Humanities and Social Sciences), the Interdepartmental Centre for Ethics and Integrity in Research, and the Research Valorization Unit.
Many universities are also involved, including University of Milano-Bicocca, Politecnico di Milano, and University of Padua. ISTAT also participates through a specific agreement.
By facilitating easier and simplified access to data, FOSSR aims to promote data literacy and methodological awareness, fostering further development of the social science research sector in Italy.
