The 2024 FOSSR General Conference will be held on October 10, (9:15 am to 4:00 pm), in a hybrid format that allows both in-person attendance at the Sala Convegni of CNR (Piazzale Aldo Moro) and online participation. The conference aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest advancements within the FOSSR project.
The day will kick off with institutional greetings from President of CNR, Maria Chiara Carrozza, Fabio Vitali (MUR), and Salvatore Capasso (Director of CNR-DSU). Giovanni Cerulli, FOSSR Scientific Coordinator, along with Emanuela Reale (CNR-IRCrES, FOSSR Advisor), will open the conference, setting the stage for a day filled with informative presentations and discussions.
The main focus of the conference will be the innovative progress made within the FOSSR project. Mario Ciampi (CNR-ICAR) will discuss the architecture and development of the FOSSR Open Cloud for Social Sciences. Attendees will also gain insights into several essential services of the FOSSR project, including the Italian Online Probability Panel (IOPP) presented by Loredana Cerbara (CNR-IRPPS) and the Online Research Panel (ORP) explained by Antonio Zinilli (CNR-IRCrES), along with various innovative methods and algorithms designed to support social science research. A coffee break and poster exhibition at 10:45 AM will provide participants an opportunity to explore FOSSR services and ongoing activities in a multimedia format.
In the afternoon, an interactive demo session will allow participants to experience key FOSSR services firsthand. Demonstrations will feature the Knowledge Graph (presented by Andrea Giovanni Nuzzolese, CNR-ISTC e Rocco Paolillo CNR-IRPPS), the Policy Learning Platform (Giovanni Cerulli), and the PoolPo platform (Giulia Andrighetto, CNR-ISTC e Eva Vriens, CNR-ISTC). In addition to the technical presentations, the conference will provide a dialogue platform for open discussions and Q&A sessions. The day will conclude with reflections on the added value of FOSSR for advancing research in social science, led by the FOSSR Scientific Coordinator, Infrastructure Manager, and Work Package leaders.
