On October 9 (2-4 pm) 2024, an online session titled “Text Mining in and for Policy-Making within FOSSR” will bring together policy-makers to explore the role of text mining in enhancing public policy analysis.
The event will begin with opening remarks from Giovanni Cerulli, followed by a presentation of the Policy Brief by Antonio Zinilli and Emanuela Varinetti (CNR-IRCrES). Their presentation will focus on how the FOSSR project, through innovative tools and methods, addresses policy challenges and provides data-driven insights. They will discuss how text mining (TM) can improve the analysis of public policies by identifying trends, key issues, and policy impacts. FOSSR aims to apply advanced techniques like machine learning and network science to uncover hidden relationships within large textual datasets, offering valuable insights into Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) policy evaluation.
Expert commentary will be provided by Misael Mongiovì (UNICT-CNR ISTC) and Raffaele Spallone (MIMIT), who will offer additional perspectives on the applications of text mining in policy contexts. The session will conclude with an open discussion and a final summary by Antonio Zinilli. This event aims to highlight the growing relevance of text mining as a tool for policy evaluation, particularly in the context of global goals like the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Participants are encouraged to explore how text mining can support data-driven decision-making and enhance evaluation processes across various sectors.
